Jamshedpur 'One of the World's Most Enduring Company Towns'
10/24/2016 - In India’s Steel City, Jamshedpur, Tata Steel and its Jamshedpur Works isn’t simply an employer. It’s a way of life.
So enmeshed is Tata Steel in the city of 800,000 that residents twice rejected efforts to install an independent municipal government. It is, as the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette newspaper puts it, one of the most enduring company-administered towns in the world.
