JSW Steel Reports 11% Growth in Crude Steel Production for Q3 FY 2011
01/10/2011 - JSW Steel Limited reported the production of 1.54 million tonnes of crude steel in the third quarter of FY 2011, representing a 4% sequential growth and growth of 11% as compared to the corresponding period of last fiscal year.

Also in the third quarter, the company produced 1.25 million tonnes of flat rolled products, a 33% increase vs. the year-ago quarter, and 280,000 tonnes of long rolled products, a 19% increase vs. the year-ago quarter. In December, the company produced 570,000 tonnes of crude steel, achieving its highest monthly crude steel production.
For the nine months ended December 31, 2010, the company produced 4.78 million tonnes of crude steel, representing a growth of 9% over corresponding period of last year.
The 3.2 million tonnes per annum expansion project at Vijayanagar Works is progressing in full swing to expand the overall annual crude steel capacity of the company to 11 million tonnes by March 2011. During the quarter the company started its Ladle Heating Furnace No. 3, Converter No. 3 and Caster No. 4 facilities as part of this expansion project.
