JSW Steel Reports 33% Increase in Crude Steel Production for May 2009

JSW Steel Limited reported a 33% increase in crude steel production for May 2009 compared to May 2008.
 
Reporting growth in all products, the company said that it also registered its highest monthly production of crude steel, hot rolled plates and color coated products. The company said the substantial growth in production was mainly attributable to the production from its 2.8-million-tonnes/year expansion project at Vijayanagar works.
 
Specifically, the company produced 459,000 tonnes of crude steel in May, a 33% increase compared to 346,000 tonnes of crude steel produced in May 2008. The company produced 307,000 tonnes of flat rolled product in May, a 20% increase compared to 255,000 tonnes produced in May 2008. The company also produced 65,000 tonnes of long products in May, a 106% increase compared to 32,000 tonnes produced in May 2008.
