June Steel Shipments Down 3% from May in U.S.
08/21/2013 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of June 2013, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,806,319 tons, a 3% decrease from the 8,047,245 tons shipped in the previous month, May 2013, and a 2.6% decrease from the 8,016,834 tons shipped in June 2012.
Shipments year-to-date in 2013 are 47,401,474 tons, a 5.4% decrease vs. 2012 shipments of 50,117,104 tons for six months.
A comparison of June shipments to the previous month of May shows the following changes: hot rolled sheet, down 2%, hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, down 5% and cold rolled sheet, down 5%.
