JYXC Casts First Heat on SMS Jumbo Bloom Caster

Jiangjing Xing Cheng Special Steel Co. (JYXC), China, has successfully cast its first heat on the jumbo continuous bloom caster supplied by Concast AG, Switzerland.
 
The caster was put into provisional operation three months prior to the originally agreed date, at its location of Jiangjing, Jiangsu province. It has a radius of 16.5 meters and is equipped with three strands for a section size of 370 x 490 mm.
 
Concast has incorporated a number of technical innovations into the new caster, including a tundish with inductive heating, resonance oscillator with two synchronized cylinders, electromagnetic mold stirrers, and dynamic mechanical soft reduction with nine-plus-one modules per strand. Concast also supplied the electrical and automation systems, comprising Levels 1 and 2.
 
Jianging will use the new continuous caster to cast up to 870,000 tonnes per year of high-grade bearing and spring steels.
