Kashima Steelworks Makes First Shipment after Earthquake
03/16/2011 - Sumitomo Metals announced that its Kashima Steelworks shipped light-weight H beams, pipe piles and steel sheets this week, the facility’s first shipment since the March 11 earthquake.
Sumitomo Metals announced that its Kashima Steelworks shipped light-weight H beams, pipe piles and steel sheets this week.
This is Kashima’s first shipment to its customers since the March 11 earthquake.
Sumitomo Metal Industries said that it will do its best to fulfill customers’ needs by delivering products that help reconstruct the communities in the damaged areas.
Regarding the resumption of manufacturing, Sumitomo Metal Industries said that utilities in the steelworks such as water have been restored, and that the company is making progress in restarting production at the Kashima blast furnaces.
