Kobe Develops Steel Sheet that Cuts Electromagnetic Waves

Kobe Steel Ltd. announced that it has developed a type of steel sheet that can drastically cut electromagnetic wave emissions from electronics products.

The steel sheet uses special additives to absorb electromagnetic waves, cutting emissions to a maximum one-ninth of current levels.

The company expects strong demand, driven by fear that the electromagnetic waves released by certain electronics products could cause other goods to be damaged or to malfunction.

The company said that it plans to put the steel sheet on sale this summer, and has set a monthly sales target of 500 tonnes.
