Austrian Mill Plans Bar Line Improvement
05/06/2025 - Danieli was selected to revamp the finishing area of Austrian rebar maker Marienhütte’s bar line, the equipment manufacturer reports.
According to Danieli, the project includes installation of a new cooling bed and Danieli's newly patented twin drum system.
The system combines the twin channel concept with aproned roller tables. At Marienhütte, the system will allow bars in diameters of 8 to 40 mm to be delivered into the cooling bed at a speed of 60 m/second, Danieli said. It also eliminates the need for conventional aprons.
The new cooling bed will be able to accept bars in lengths of up to 72 meters, an upgrade over the current table, which can accept bars up to 40 meters long.
The new equipment will be fully automated, Danieli said, and will simplify operations as well as improve operator safety.
Marienhütte is planing to install the equipment during a 3-week outage. Start-up is scheduled for the beginning of 2026, the company said.
