Mechel Launches Welded Mesh Production Line in Moscow Region
05/19/2009 - Mechel Service commissions its new automated line to manufacture welded meshes in the town of Vidnoye in the Moscow Region.
Mechel Service recently commissioned its new automated line to manufacture welded meshes in the Town of Vidnoye, Moscow Region. The production was set up on the territory of a reconstructed workshop of Mechel’s Moscow Coke and Gas Plant OAO.
Mechel Service said the installation of welded mesh production in the Moscow Region has been launched in line with its program to expand and develop its regional production and warehouse network. The new equipment comprises an automated line designed to manufacture meshes ranging in cell size from 50 to 300 mm. Finished product from the new line can vary in size from 250 х 1200 mm to 2400 х 6,000 mm.
For feedstock, the new line will use VR-1 grade 2.8 to 8.0 mm diameter wire and cold deformed rebars produced at Mechel OAO’s subsidiaries. The new line has a production capacity of up to 1200 tonnes per month, depending on the feedstock characteristics and required size of finished products.
Commissioning of Mechel Service’s mesh production will enable the company to expand its mix of marketable metal products and reach a new level of quality in servicing its end consumers. The main off-takers of the welded meshes will include construction companies in Moscow and the Moscow Region.

Mechel said it has already completed the procedure to certify product. The Mosstroy certification from the Moscow system of voluntary certification in construction industry will enable Mechel Service OOO to supply product to the market immediately.
