Mechel Resumes Work at Romanian Plants Following Snowstorms
02/23/2012 - Mechel OAO has resumed work at Ductil Steel Buzau and Mechel Campia Turzii, as well smelting production at Ductil Steel Otelu Rosu following severe snowstorms that crippled the supply of materials.
Mechel OAO reports the resumption of work at Ductil Steel Buzau and Mechel Campia Turzii plants. The company also resumed smelting production at Ductil Steel Otelu Rosu.
Last week, production had been temporarily halted at Ductil Steel Buzau, Mechel Campia Turzii and Ductil Steel Otelu Rosu due to supply problems linked to severe snowstorms.
Three out of four Mechel plants that had halted last week are now operating as normal. The fourth halted facility, the Mechel Targoviste plant, is due to be re-launched on February 27.
The company noted that this interruption will not affect the company’s steel production plans for the year.
Mechel, one of Russia’s leading Russian companies, conducts business in four segments: mining, steel, ferroalloy and power. Mechel unites producers of coal, iron ore concentrate, nickel, ferrochrome, ferrosilicon, steel, rolled products, hardware, heat and electric power, and its products are marketed domestically and internationally.
