Metso Completes Service Center Expansion
08/13/2025 - Metso Corp. announced today that it has completed the expansion of its service center in Antofagasta, Chile.
The company said the expansion adds an additional 1,200 m2 of operational capacity. This brings the total workspace up to 4,800 m2. The expansion includes new infrastructure and state-of-the-art technology to service large-scale equipment with greater speed, safety and reliability.
In recent years, the service center has tripled its technical-commercial agreements. It is now equipped to repair and refurbish large-scale equipment including HRCTM and high-pressure grinding roll (HPGR) units, Vertimill® grinding technology and HIG mills for mining customers.
The service center supports beneficiation and dewatering technologies. It also has service capabilities for mining crushers, grinding mills, screens and car dumpers.
The company installed an overhead crane with a lifting capacity of 140 metric tons and a high-precision vertical lathe that can handle parts up to 5 m in diameter. They will be used to minimize transport needs, decrease turnaround times and support local service operations.
The Antofagasta service center offers reconditioning, repair, assembly and parts manufacturing services under OEM standards. Metso said it has completed 100 screen repairs with zero accidents.
