NAS Turns to KOCKS for Reducing and Sizing Block
10/16/2025 - North American Stainless (NAS) has turned to KOCKS for a reducing and sizing block (RSB®) 370++/6 in the latest 5.0 design for its facility in Ghent, Ky., USA.
The company said the RSB will be integrated into the existing rolling mill as a finishing block after 19 H/V stands. With the setup, NAS will be able to roll straight and coiled special bar quality SBQ bars in both round and hexagonal dimensions in one block. It will also roll the feeders for the existing wire rod line.
Finished products will include round bars in stainless and high-performance alloys from 12.7 to 103.6 mm, special rebar with three ribs from 12.7 mm to 44.5 mm and hexagon bars from 12.7 to 76.2 mm. The company estimates the mill will have a total capacity of about 200,000 metric tons annually.
KOCKS said the scope of supply includes the KOCKS Blue Box® water cooling lines and Microstructure Simulator for thermomechanical rolling; the 4D EAGLE S system with the Size Control System; and a remote control for automatic stand and guide adjustments allow for a precise closed-loop quality. Shears, electric and automation are also included.
The BAMICON Octopus software and hardware system supports all setup processes in the roll shop.
NAS said the investment is part of a modernization project aimed at increasing production flexibility, enhancing product quality and improving efficiency.
The companies said commissioning is planned for the third quarter of 2026.
