Preliminary July Data Show Large U.S. Import Increases Continuing
21 August 2012 - Based on preliminary Census Bureau data, the American Iron and Steel Institute reported that the U.S. imported a total of 2,582,000 tons of steel in July, including 2,028,000 tons of finished steel (down 8% each, respectively, from June final data).
U.S. Commission Votes Not to Sunset Import Duties on German Pipe
21 August 2012 - In the final results of a five-year sunset review, the U.S. International Trade Commission determined that revoking the existing antidumping duty order on certain seamless carbon and alloy steel standard, line, and pressure pipe from Germany would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury within a reasonably foreseeable time.
World Steel Association Reports July Crude Steel Production 2% Higher Year-on-Year

Alberta Adopts ASTM A1035 Steel as Corrosion Protection Solution for Bridge Roadways
20 August 2012 - The Province of Alberta, Canada recently updated its Bridge Structure Design Criteria Version 7.0 to reflect that ASTM A1035 corrosion resistant reinforcing steel manufactured by MMFX Steel or solid stainless steel are the only two acceptable reinforcing steel technologies for use in Exposure Class 2 bridges in Alberta.
U.S. Steel Shipments Drop 5% in June
20 August 2012 - The American Iron and Steel Institute reported that for the month of June 2012, U.S. steel mills shipped 8,016,834 tons, a 5.0% decrease from the 8,436,831 tons shipped in the previous month and a 4.9% increase from the 7,639,108 tons shipped in June 2011.
BlueScope Steel Reports Earnings Performance
