AIIS: U.S. Steel Imports Keep Climbing

AISI: June Steel Shipments Down 1.3% From May, Up 6.2% From Prior Year

13 August 2014 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of June 2014, U.S. steel mills shipped 8,291,823 tons, a 1.3% decrease from the 8,398,976 tons shipped in the previous month, May 2014, and a 6.2% increase from the 7,806,319 tons shipped in June 2013.

SMDI Taps GM's Dr. Hall as Head of Automotive Programs

07 August 2014 - The Steel Market Development Institute (SMDI), a business unit of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), announced that Dr. Jody N. Hall, former technical integration engineer at General Motors Company Global Body Manufacturing Engineering Center in Warren, Mich., will succeed Ronald P. Krupitzer as vice president automotive market for the Institute. Krupitzer, who has held the position for 13 years, will retire at the end of the year.
