NLMK Appoints New Vice President for Logistics

NLMK announced the appointment of Mr. Alexander Sapronov to the newly created position of Vice President for Logistics. According to the company, this decision will improve the efficiency and operational flexibility of the Group’s management structure. 

In his new role, Sapronov will be responsible for international and domestic logistics, as well as the Group’s logistics infrastructure.

Sapronov, born in 1953, served as Director General for Independent Transportation Company (NTK) from 2009 to January 2012. Prior to that he worked as Deputy Director General for Strategy and Corporate Development at Freight One (PGK) and Vice President at Rosneft. He graduated from All-Union Correspondence Law Institute, and the Russian Management Academy. In 2007 he received an МВА in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the State University Higher School of Economics.


NLMK, one of the world’s leading producers of steel and steel products, produced 12 million tonnes of steel in 2011. NLMK’s production facilities located in Russia, the EU and US employ around 60,000 people.

The company produces a wide range of steel products, including slabs and billets, hot-rolled, thick hot-rolled and cold-rolled plates, pre-painted, electrical steel (transformer grain-oriented steel and dynamo steel), and other high value added grades, as well as a wide range of long products, including rebar, wire-rod and metalware. In 2011 NLMK delivered its products to customers from over 70 countries.
