NLMK Completes Registration for REACH Standard

01/25/2011 - NLMK Group companies successfully complete the registration of their products as required by Regulation EC No. 1907/2006 (REACH).

NLMK Group companies have successfully completed the registration of their products as required by Regulation EC No. 1907/2006 (REACH) planned for 2010.

The EU market is one of NLMK Group’s priority sales markets. It accounted for 22% of NLMK Group’s overall sales and 21% of revenues in Q3 2010.

 
Technical dossiers for the Group’s products were compiled using recommendations from consortiums created jointly by European and non-European companies to comply with the REACH Regulation requirements, including Iron Platform, REACH for Coal Chemicals (R4CC) consortium, FARM REACH consortium, and various European consulting companies. All registration dossiers were submitted to the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) in November 2010.   
 
Registration numbers and all necessary confirmations were received from ECHA for pig iron, ammonium sulfate and coal tar produced by Novolipetsk, as well as for ammonium sulfate and crude coal benzene produced by Altai-Koks.
 
Complying with European Union registration procedures for chemical substances allows NLMK Group to continue to export these listed products freely to the European market after December 1st, 2010. 
 
NLMK Group companies plan to continue their REACH Regulation compliance activities for the entire mix of the Group’s products delivered to countries belonging to the European Economic Space.
