Outokumpu Appoints New Sales and Marketing EVP

Kari Parvento has been appointed Executive Vice President - Group Sales and Marketing and member of Outokumpu Group's Executive Committee as of May 1, 2010, at the latest. He will report to CEO Juha Rantanen and will succeed Bo Annvik, who has headed the Group's Sales and Marketing function on a temporary basis since February 2009 in addition to his permanent duties as EVP - Specialty Stainless.
 
Parvento will be based initially in the Group head office in Finland but will relocate to the Group Sales and Marketing head office in Brussels during 2010.
 
A Finnish citizen, Parvento holds a Master of Science in Engineering (Mining Technology) from Helsinki University of Technology. He started his professional career at Outokumpu in the 1980s and is currently responsible for Sandvik Group's Underground Hard Rock Mining and Underground Soft Rock Mining businesses as well as holding the position of Managing Director for Sandvik Mining and Construction Oy in Finland.
 
During his career, Parvento has held senior sales, marketing, and management positions at Tamrock, Kuusakoski, and Sandvik in Finland, and also internationally in Australia and Sweden.
