Outotec GmbH has been awarded a contract by Bhushan Steel Ltd for two iron ore sinter plants.

The new sinter plants will be built at Bhushan Steel's integrated steelworks at Meramandali, in the Orissa state of India. The contract price is valued approximately EUR 18 million.

Outotec's scope of delivery covers basic engineering as well as proprietary and special equipment for the two sinter plants. Each of the plants will have a grate area of 204 square meters.

The new sinter plants are expected to become operational in the second half of 2010.

"Outotec has delivered more than ten iron ore sinter plants in the last five years in India,” commented Tapani Järvinen, Outotec's President and CEO. The order is included in Outotec's 2008 first-quarter order backlog.
