Posco Completes Continuous Galvanizing Line

Posco completed an annual 750,000-tonne-scale Continuous Galvanizing Line (CGL) at Pohang Steelworks, allowing the company to manufacture various products including plated steel sheets and others with consistent quality and high strength. Posco is now able to manufacture steel sheets with high corrosion resistance.

The newly completed CGL drastically reduces the use of environmental pollutant materials, according to Posco.

At the CGL completion ceremony on April 5, CEO Chung Joonyang, National Assembly Member Lee Byeongseok, Pohang Mayor Park Seungho, Pohang City Council Chairman Lee Sangku, Aju Steel President Lee Hakyeon, Samsung Corp. Managing Director Han Soohee, and other related personnel attended.

Joonyang said, “The CGL factory completed today is an example of the Posco ‘paradox management.’ Posco’s unique technology was secured by bringing together the excellent quality and dimensional characteristic of continuous hot-rolled products and the company’s independent melted plating manufacturing process, while the environment-friendly, low-cost process will increase profitability and raise global competitiveness.”

Posco completed and operated an annual 100,000-tonne-scale CGL at Pohang Steelworks in 1977 and moved the facilities to Shunde, China, in 1997, rebuilding a top-of-the-line CGL at Pohang Steelworks.
