Posco Hot Rolling Strengthens Ties with Nippon Steel
12/14/2011 - Posco Pohang and Gwang-yang Works’ hot rolling departments recently hosted a technology exchange event with Nippon Steel Corp. to discuss ideas and experiences related to cost reduction, accident prevention, and improving product quality.
Posco Pohang and Gwang-yang Works’ hot rolling departments recently hosted a technology exchange event with Nippon Steel Corporation.
During the event, the two parties exchanged information, sharing up-to-date technologies and experience regarding cost reduction, prevention of worksite accidents, and improving product quality. The event also featured a discussion session, in which the two companies’ young engineers showcased unique and insightful ideas.
Kim Hyun-jin, an engineer of the Pohang Works` hot rolling department, said that he could see that the Japanese steel industry is gradually overcoming hardships caused by the devastating earthquake in March. “It was a great opportunity to create synergy by exchanging information.”
“Their technology to save energies and increase productivity was impressive,” said Kim. “I wish we can use these technologies to save costs and upgrade technologies at Posco.”
Posco noted that both companies’ hot rolling departments plan to continue their efforts to upgrade productivity and business performance through such events.
