Posco-IPPC to Build Third Silicon Steel Processing Plant in India
04/29/2011 - Posco recently broke ground for construction of its third silicon steel-processing plant at Posco-IPPC in Hyderabad, India. The new plant will have an annual capacity of 24,000 tonnes.
Posco recently broke ground for construction of its third silicon steel-processing plant at Posco-IPPC in Hyderabad, India.
Scheduled to be completed in August 2011, the third plant will feature master coil-cutting equipment such as slitting and CTL (Cut to Length) lines. It will have an annual capacity of 24,000 tonnes.
The steelmaker expects the newest facility to help meet the growth of production and sales of grain oriented (GO) silicon steel near the area of Andhra Pradesh Province. It also expected to serve as a firm base for the growth of silicon steel products sales in India.

Posco-IPPC opened its first silicon steel-processing plant in December 2006 with an annual production capacity of 130,000 tonnes, and the second plant was completed in March 2009 in the industrial complex near Mumbai City, with an annual production capacity of 120,000 tons.
Guests at the groundbreaking ceremony for the third plant included Shin Jae-Chul, Senior Vice President of the Marketing Strategy Department, the Vice Chief Managing Director of APIIC (Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation), and representatives from local customer companies.
Posco is currently gearing up for moves aimed at the establishment of global units and the expansion of its market throughout India.
