Posco Starts up High-End Processing Center in Poland

Posco recently celebrated completion of construction and start-up of operations for the Posco-Poland Processing Center (POS-PPC), Posco’s high-end steel processing center in Poland. The facility is Posco’s first processing center in Europe.

The POS-PPC steel processing center will annually produce 140,000 tonnes of high-end steel to process and sell. The center will provide multiple services to customers with its technologically advance facilities, such as the slitting line and shearing line.

The facility’s coil center, and market information and logistics control will be operated by Aju Steel Co. Ltd. and LG International Corp., respectively, which is expected to bring about a synergistic effect.

Holding the ceremony for the completion of POS-PPC in Kobierzyce, near Wroclaw, Poland, Posco pledged to enhance its customer service in automobile and home appliances companies across Europe.

Some 200 eminent figures, including Korean Ambassador to Poland Shi-Hyung Lee, Major of Wroclaw Andrzej Wasik, Governor of Kobierzyce Ryszard Pacholik, and President Seok-Man Yoon, participated in the ceremony.

In his congratulatory address, President Yoon said Posco had chosen Poland as the first European site to build its processing center, based on its economic and geographic significance as a Mecca for the manufacture industry in Central and Eastern Europe.

Posco views the completion of the POS-PPC as an opportunity to expand its sales of steel sheet for automobiles and home appliances in Poland, and to secure a point of entry for sales of high-end steel products in Eastern Europe, where growth potentials are high.
