Posco to Build Distribution Center in India

Posco recently had a groundbreaking ceremony for Posco-ISDC, the new distribution center for the Indian market being built near Dighi Port, Maharashtra State.

Construction of the distribution center is meant to reduce logistics costs and improve the quality of related service, in preparation for an increase in exports to the country’s mid-western areas.

The ceremony was joined by Posco employees including Senior Vice President Oh In-hwan, as well as officials from Maharashtra State Government, Dighi Port management companies, and partner companies of Posco.

Scheduled to open in December, Posco-ISDC is expected to handle 360,000 tonnes of steel products a year. Located 100 kilometers from the construction site for the center are Posco IPPC and a
continuousgalvanizingline (CGL) plant, which are expected to facilitate the movement of the products to and from the distribution center.

Operating two Indian processing centers in Pune and Deli, Posco notes that it is expanding aggressively in the Indian market; it opened another processing center in Chennai on June 15.

The company predicts that the opening of the ISDC will complete a new steel supply system covering production, processing, and distribution, together with the CGL plant and the processing centers.
