Held every two years, this was the 19th technology exchange session between Posco and Nippon Steel. The conference was attended by six participants from NSC's steel manufacture department and 10 representatives from Gwangyang’s steel manufacture department attended the conference.
A written questionnaire on continuous casting exchanged prior to the conference served as a basis for discussion. Extensive discussion was carried out on the criteria for collecting data on error rates and specific implementation strategies and effects regarding improvement activities. Both sides also exchanged information on processes related to low-quality steel processing.
After the meeting, Gwangyang Steel Works engineers invited their counterparts from Nippon Steel to tour the auto steel plate manufacturing process at Continuous Casting Plant No.
Both parties agreed to narrow the differences in deriving standards on manufacturing and error rates and to agree on specific requirements in future discussions. The two companies also said they planned to dedicate future technology sessions on improving productivity as a means to reduce carbon emissions and promote green growth. They agreed to exchange high-quality information on improving productivity and error rates.
