Praxair Canada Starts up Air Separation Plant at Essar Steel Algoma

Praxair Canada Inc. has completed the start-up of a cryogenic air separation plant to Essar Steel Algoma Inc.’s steel mill located in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Canada.

The new plant will supply 900 tons per day of gaseous oxygen, bringing Essar’s total installed capacity at Sault St. Marie to 2700 tons per day. Fully integrated with the plant’s existing air separation facilities the new plant also adds merchant liquid capacity to support growing local atmospheric gases and U.S. argon markets.
