The companies said since first coil production on 13 May, the plant has hit four different milestones. The line was producing 1-mm ultrathin hot-rolled coils only 16 days after the first coil; the plant broke world productivity records with productivity of 7 metric tons per minute with a 1,250-mm-wide strip in only 30 days; the first 0.8-mm-thick coil was produced 11 weeks after start-up; and the first 0.7-mm-thick coil was produced only 17 weeks after start-up. 

The productivity of the plant is estimated to be 20% higher than any other thin-slab casting and rolling plant globally. The line features a 135-mm-thick caster, four roughing stands and five finishing stands. When powered by renewable energy, the technology has no CO₂ emissions, the companies said.
