Primetals Technologies Delivers 2-Strand Caster to Maanshan Iron and Steel
01/27/2026 - Primetals Technologies announced it will engineer, supply and start-up a bow-type 2-strand continuous caster, CC No. 4, for Maanshan Iron and Steel Co. Ltd. in Maanshan City, China.
The company said CC No. 4 has a 10-m radius and a metallurgical length of about 40 m. Slabs will have a thickness between 230 to 250 mm and a width of 950 to 1,600 mm. It will feature the Smart Mold with DynaWidth along with Dynaphase, Dynacs 3D and DynaGap Soft Reduction 3D. It will also have Mold Expert and a LevCon system. They estimate it will have a capacity of 2.37 million metric tons annually.
Primetals Technologies said the scope includes equipment supply, engineering, level 1 and level 2 automation systems, and supervision for start-up.
The companies said commissioning is scheduled for the second half of 2026.
