Rautaruukki to Invest Euro 12 Million in Steel Service Centers

Rautaruukki (Ruukki) has announced plans to centralize steel service centre operations and reorganize the division of work between the units.

As part of the reorganization, Ruukki will invest a total of EUR 12 million in the service centers in Naantali and Järvenpää in Finland and in Halmstad in Sweden will specialize to further improve their delivery accuracy, cost-effectiveness and profitability.

Delivery capacity of the Naantali service centre will be increased with the installation of a new slitting line for special products that will help to strengthen Ruukki's capacity to deliver high-strength and color-coated steels. The Järvenpää service centre will focus on stainless steel and aluminum products, and the Halmstad service center in Sweden will increase its own cutting of carbon steels instead of partly contracting.

“Steel service centers play an extensive role in our supply chain, providing various prefabrication services and further processing Ruukki's products to customer requirements,” said Olavi Huhtala, President of Ruukki Metals. “Unit specialization will ensure we offer an effective, diverse range of services to meet the needs of even the most demanding customers,” he added.

Ruukki has steel service centers in Finland, Sweden, Poland and Russia, as well as a number of product stocks across Europe.
