Roofing Rolling Mills Celebrates Start-Up of New Cold Mill Complex
02/11/2026 - Roofings Rolling Mills Ltd. has successfully started up its new cold mill complex with Danieli technology in Uganda.
Danieli said it was chosen as the technology partner to design and supply the cold mill complex. It supplied the entire mechanical, electrical and automation systems. The complex includes a cold reversing mill, hot-dip galvanizing line, color coating line and a coil-to-coil trimming line.
The single-stand, 4-high cold reversing mill has a hydraulic automatic gauge control and a closed-loop roll coolant system for rolling strip down to 0.15 mm. It has Danieli Automation level 2 systems with a rolling speed of 1,000 m/min. Its capacity is about 150,000 metric tons annually, the companies said.
The galvanizing line can produce commercial and full hard grades at speeds up to 160 m/min. It can process strip thicknesses from 0.15 to 0.8 mm and widths from 600 to 1,250 mm.
The Danieli Centro Combustion horizontal annealing furnace uses recuperative heating, a direct-fed cleaning zone, low-inertia radiant tubes for uniform temperatures and a jet cooler. It features a Danieli Kohler Z-Jet wiping system for accurate coating. The finishing section can process coils down to five metric tons for service centers.
The companies said the color coating line can produce construction sheets and coil with strip thicknesses from 0.2 to 0.8 mm and widths between 600 to 1,250 mm. It can process coils weighing up to 15 metric tons and produce them down to a minimum size of 5 metric tons. It has horizontal catenary-type ovens and the DAN-COATER system.
