Ruukki Completes Employer-Employee Negotiations at Kurikka
01/16/2012 - Ruukki Engineering Oy has completed the employer-employee negotiations initiated in early December regarding layoffs and redundancies at the company’s facilities in in Kurikka, Finland.
Ruukki Engineering Oy has completed the employer-employee negotiations initiated by the company in early December regarding layoffs and redundancies. The company said the negotiations were held to improve efficiency and adjust production in response to weakened market conditions.
The negotiations affected Ruukki Engineering Oy’s personnel, a total 434 persons, in Kurikka, Finland. The negotiations have resulted in the redundancy of 35 people, of which 30 are workers and 5 salaried or senior salaried employees. Most of the redundancies will take place through pension arrangements.
The company noted that layoffs will be implemented subject to separate plans based on the order books, with layoff notices to be given in week 4 at the earliest.
Rautaruukki supplies metal-based components, systems and integrated systems to the construction and engineering industries, offering a wide selection of metal products and services. Rautaruukki has operations in 27 countries, employs 11,700 people, reported net sales of EUR 2.4 billion for 2010. The corporation uses the marketing name Ruukki.
