SAIL Receives Award for Corporate Responsibility

Steel Authority of India Ltd. was recently conferred with the eleventh NCPEDP-Shell Helen Keller Award at a function held at the India International Centre. G. Ojha, Director (Personnel), SAIL, received the award from Kapil Sibal, the Honorable Union Minister for Human Resource Development.
 
The award was presented to SAIL in the Role Model – Organization category for its commitment toward improving employability of disabled persons. Among other factors, SAIL was recognized for being a responsible corporate citizen, providing the necessary infrastructure and equipment to people with disabilities to enable them to earn their livelihood and become self-dependent.
 
Started in 1999, the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP)-Shell Helen Keller Awards recognize people and organizations that have worked toward creating a barrier-free, non-discriminative, and inclusive India.
 
The award also acknowledged learning centers facilitated by SAIL for the education and training of mentally/physically disabled children by supporting non-governmental organizations working in this area through providing buildings, special training equipment, and medical aid. SAIL also supports a number of special schools through financial assistance and sponsorships.
