Sandvik Celebrates 150 Years on January 31

The Sandvik Group will celebrate its corporate anniversary on January 31, 150 years after Göran Fredrik Göransson’s new company was formed in Sandviken, Sweden. At that time, Sandvik was first in the world to use the Bessemer process, a revolutionary turning point in the production of steel.
 
In the ensuing 150 years, Sandvik has successfully operated and evolved through continuous innovation, identification of new opportunities in its markets, and through various shifts in technology. Looking ahead to a successful future while acknowledging its successful history, the company recognized the talent, experience and commitment of its 50,000 employees across the globe.
 
The company plans to celebrate its anniversary on January 31 with a fireworks display in Sandviken. The company also will publish an anniversary issue of the Group magazine Meet Sandvik in 14 languages as well as a book presenting the company’s successful development. The company is also planning various events throughout the anniversary year at all of Sandvik’s companies worldwide.
