Siemens to Supply Equipment for Strip Processing Lines in China
01/18/2008 - Siemens Metals Technologies will supply dynamic air knives for two hot galvanizing lines at Tangshan HengYuan Coating & Galvanizing, and a new skinpass mill at Tonghua Iron and Steel Co.
Tangshan HengYuan Coating & Galvanizing Co. LTD and Tonghua Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. have placed orders with Siemens Metals Technologies to supply equipment for strip processing lines in northeast China.
Located in Hebei province, Tangshan HengYuan operates a production plant with an annual capacity of around three million tonnes of crude steel. Siemens will supply two dynamic air knives (DAKs) for two of the company’s galvanizing lines. The systems are part of an overall project aimed at increasing line productivity. Siemens’ scope also covers installation and commissioning of the dynamic air knives as well as training.
In Jilin province, state-owned Tonghua Iron and Steel Group operates a production complex with an annual capacity of around four million tonnes of steel. Up to now, the company has mainly produced structural steel as well as special steels for a wide variety of applications. Within the framework of an investment program for expansion of the production range to include high-quality flat products, the company is currently building a new hot galvanizing line.
Siemens will supply the inline skinpass stand and will be responsible for erection, supervision of commissioning, and training. By standardizing primarily on Siemens equipment—including the previously supplied tension leveler on this same line—Siemens intends to complete the project within only eight months.
Both projects are scheduled for completion in summer 2008.
