Siemens to Supply Turnkey AOD Converter to Tiangao
02/25/2011 - Yunnan Tiangao Nickel Industry has contracted Siemens for the supply of a turnkey AOD converter, including plant engineering and supply of the entire mechanical and electrical systems.
Yunnan Tiangao Nickel Industry Co., Ltd. (Tiangao), China, has contracted Siemens for the supply of a turnkey AOD converter. The order volume amounts to several million euros.
Tiangao’s AOD converter of, with a tapping weight of 120 tons, is being erected in the southern Chinese city of Qujing, Shizong county in the province of Yunnan. Siemens is responsible for the plant engineering and supply of the entire mechanical and electrical systems.
The AOD converter will have a tapping weight of 120 tonnes. The mechanical equipment includes the converter vessel, suspension system, trunnion ring, tilting unit and tuyeres, top lances, valve stations, and a transfer car. The electrical equipment comprises of the basic automation system, user software for the basic and process automation systems, and instrumentation. Siemens will also supply the drive system for the converter tilting unit, the drive for the oxygen lance, and a motor control center (MCC).
In addition, Siemens provide consultation services for erection, and will carry out startup and commissioning of the converter. The project at Yunnan Tiangao is Siemens’ first contract for an AOD converter from a private producer in China, and is the first in China in which Siemens will assume complete responsibility for a turnkey plant of this type.
The project is scheduled to be completed at the beginning of 2012.
