Siemens VAI Metals Technologies Announces Leadership Change
06/23/2009 - Siemens VAI announces the appointment of Werner Auer as the new head of Siemens VAI Metals Technologies GmbH & Co. Auer, effective July 1, 2009.
Siemens VAI announced the appointment of Werner Auer as the new head of Siemens VAI Metals Technologies GmbH & Co. Auer, effective July 1, 2009.
Auer, who previously served as the Business Unit’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), succeeds Richard Pfeiffer, who will be takingon new assignments in the Industry Solutions Division.
“I'd like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to Richard Pfeiffer”, said Jens Michael Wegmann, CEO of the Industry Solutions Division, commenting on the change at the top. “As head of Siemens Metals Technologies, he has played a key role in shaping and successfully expanding this business in the last three years.
“By appointing Werner Auer, who has worked in the business for 25 years, we are ensuring continuity in our future activities,” added Wegmann.
Auer joined VAI (Voest Alpine Industrieanlagenbau) in 1982 after studying power engineering and energy management at the Technical University in Vienna. At VAI, he worked in numerous management positions in international plant construction, focusing on equipment and systems for steelworks and on environmental engineering. From 1997, he was management spokesman and Chief Financial Officer of VAI Fuchs in Germany as well as head of VAI Group’s “Steelworks engineering, environmental engineering and long products” section. He has served as Chief Financial Officer of Siemens Metals Technologies since October 1, 2006.
The company noted that the Chief Financial Officer position at Siemens VAI will be filled at a later date.
