Siemens VAI to Supply Continuous Annealing Line for Xinyu Iron & Steel
06/25/2009 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies will provide Xinyu Iron & Steel with the engineering, equipment and services for a new continuous annealing line, part of a cold rolling mill in the Jiangxi province.
Xinyu Iron & Steel Co., Ltd, China, has placed an order with Siemens VAI Metals Technologies to provide the engineering, equipment and services for a new continuous annealing line. The order value is in the two-digit million euro range.
The new annealing line will form part of a cold rolling mill in the Jiangxi province on which Xinyu will produce high-grade strip for the automotive industry. It will be capable of processing 700,000 tonnes of steel strip annually at widths ranging from 700 to 1500 millimeters and thicknesses from 0.2 to 2.0 millimeters.
Siemens VAI will be responsible for the complete engineering and design of the mechanical and electrical equipment, and will also supply special machinery for product quality, including a skinpass mill stand and tension leveler, ML21M welding system, and a turret-type side trimmer.
Siemens VAI will also supply the automation equipment for the entire line, including the furnace, which is to be supplied by another vendor. The solution concept will be based on Siemens’ Siroll PL platform, specially developed for processing lines.
Siemens, which had previously supplied equipment to Xinyu for a hot strip mill and a coupled tandem pickling line, will supervise the installation work for the new annealing line. Siemens VAI will also be responsible for commissioning, acceptance-test support and training. The new annealing line is scheduled to commence operation in April 2011.
