SMS Demag to Extend Bhushan CSP Facility
02/29/2008 - Bhushan Power & Steel places an order with SMS Demag for the extension of its CSP facility.
Bhushan Power & Steel, India, has placed an order with SMS Demag for the extension of its CSP® facility.
The order comprises the installation of a second casting strand, and extension of the rolling mill with a sixth stand and a second coiler.
Bhushan Power & Steel’s CSP plant is still under construction in the Indian province of Orissa. It will go into operation in the spring of 2008 as a single-strand facility. In its present extension stage, the mill attains an annual capacity of 800,000 tonnes with a maximum strip width of 1300 mm.
In mid-2010, the plant will increase its capacity by an additional 1.6 million tonnes with the installation of a second casting strand and a second coiler. At that time, Bhushan Power & Steel will be able to reduce its minimum strip gage from 1.5 to 1.2 mm by means of rolling with six stands.
