SMS Demag to Supply Slab Caster for Bhushan Steel and Strips
06/05/2007 - Bhushan Steel and Strips awards a contract to SMS Demag to supply another single-strand slab caster for the production of 1300-mm wide slabs.
Bhushan Steel and Strips Ltd. of New Delhi, India, recently awarded a contract to SMS Demag, Germany, to supply another single-strand slab caster for the production of 1300-mm wide slabs.
SMS Demag’s scope of supply for the new continuous casting machine covers plant, process and automation technology. This includes the mold with resonance oscillation, equipped with a model for optimized oscillation for improved strand surface quality as well as the entire strand-guide system. The vertical bending plant is designed for a maximum casting speed of 0.95 meters/minute.
The spectrum of supplies and services also includes the mechanical, electrical and automation systems as well as the supervision of erection and commissioning.
This project follows Bhushan’s previous order with SMS Demag in April 2005 for a single-strand slab caster (1,680 mm) and a Conarc® steelworks. The new plant is scheduled to be commissioned in autumn 2008.
