SMS Meer to Supply Open-Die Forging Press for Qiqihar North Forging Steel
03/24/2011 - Qiqihar North Forging Steel has placed an order with SMS Meer for the delivery of an open-die forging press with a forging force of up to 60 MN and an upsetting force of 70 MN.
Qiqihar North Forging Steel Co. Ltd. of the Chinese province of Heilongjiang has placed an order with SMS Meer for the delivery of a 60/70 MN open-die forging press.
The company will use the new press to process high-grade materials like tool steel, stainless steel and high-alloy materials for various industrial applications. The plant operates with a forging force of up to 60 MN and an upsetting force of 70 MN.
The investment made by Qiqihar North Forging Steel, which is part of the Dalian Dongbei Group, comes as part of "The Technical Retrofitting for Optimization and Upgrading of Forgings" program. The steel producer plans to use the new press to extend its range of products.
The Dalian Dongbei Special Steel Group Co. Ltd. has already taken delivery of two machines from SMS Meer: a high-speed open-die forging press with 80/100 MN press force and an SMX 800/16-MN hydraulic forging machine. Both machines are currently being assembled in Dalian.
Commissioning of the new plant is planned in summer 2012.
