SMS Meer to Supply Section Mill for Jiexiu Xintai Iron & Steel
03/20/2008 - Jiexiu Xintai Iron & Steel in the province of Shanxi, China, places order with SMS Meer for a new 1.2 million tonnes/year section mill.
Jiexiu Xintai Iron & Steel Co. Ltd., in the province of Shanxi, China, has placed an order with SMS Meer for a new 1.2 million tonnes/year section mill.
The section new mill, on which Jiexiu Xintai will roll beams in the dimensional range of 200 to 1000 mm, will further increase China’s capacity for parallel-flanged beams and help to satisfy high domestic demand. SMS Meer’s scope of supply includes planning and engineering, core technological equipment, training, and the supervision of erection and commissioning.
Jiexiu Xintai’s heavy beam mill will be equipped with modern CCS®-type universal stands. The highly rigid mill stand design and a hydraulic adjustment control system will allow the production of final dimensions within a narrow tolerance range. A 9-roller CRS® compact roller straightener, which features straightening rollers mounted in bearings on both sides, hydraulic adjustment, and automatic straightening roller changing, allows high flexibility and high straightening quality with minimal residual stresses. Program changing on the mill train will take no more than 20 minutes. The rolled stock is divided up into finished lengths by means of SMS Meer’s proven cold-saw technology, which also features low cutting costs.
The new heavy beam mill also will use SMS Meer’s patented XH® universal beam rolling principle. This rolling method has been implemented by SMS Meer in 16 new mills since its introduction in the early 1990s.
Hot commissioning of the new section mill is scheduled for 2009.
