SMS Meer to Supply Wire Rod Outlet to Xinjiang Gaoyi
12/02/2011 - Xinjiang Gaoyi Smelting Co. Ltd., Houma City (Shanxi Province), China, has placed an order with SMS Meer, Germany, for the supply of a wire rod outlet for its wire rod mill.
Xinjiang Gaoyi Smelting Co. Ltd., Houma City (Shanxi Province), China, has placed an order with SMS Meer, Germany, for the supply of a wire rod outlet for a wire rod mill.
The wire rod outlet will have a maximum production capacity of 120 tonnes/hour, which will enable Gaoyi to achieve a higher productivity than with conventional lines.
Xinjiang Gaoyi’s wire rod production line has an annual capacity of 700,000 tonnes, rolling wire rod in the size range from 5.5 to 16 mm diameter and rebars with diameters from 6 to 16 mm. The steel grades processed range from carbon steels to low-alloy steels.
The mill is equipped with a six-stand wire-rod finishing block from SMS Meer. Together with the water cooling sections, loop laying head, loop cooling conveyor (LCC®) and a coil compactor, this line enables Xinjiang Gaoyi to manufacture high-quality products for a range of applications, including China’s booming construction industry.
Commissioning of the new wire rod outlet is scheduled for the second quarter of 2012.
