Special Alloys Producer Certifies Converter Upgrade
07/14/2020 - Italy’s Acciaierie Valbruna has issued the final acceptance certificate on upgrades to an argon oxygen decarburization (AOD) converter at its facility in Bolzano, according to project contractor Primetals Technologies.
In a statement, Primetals Technologies said the project included installation of a new level 2 process optimization system and a new trunnion ring and tilting drive.
“The revamping has improved the process stability, the production flexibility, and reduced the maintenance efforts for the AOD converter,” the company said in a statement.
The Bolzano mill specializes in stainless steel and special alloy rods with round and hexagonal cross-sections.
