Steel Industry Veteran Named to Steelcraft Board of Directors

Steelcraft, a leading provider of custom-engineered steel products, components and systems, has appointed David Sutherland to its Board of Directors, effective immediately.

Sutherland brings extensive business leadership, governance, and steel manufacturing industry experience to his new role on Steelcraft's Board, including a 30+ year career with integrated North American steel plate manufacturer IPSCO, the latter five spent as the company's President and CEO. As IPSCO CEO, he increased company revenue from $1.1 billion to $3.8 billion, and successfully negotiated sale of IPSCO to Swedish steel company SSAB in 2007.

"David brings to Steelcraft an incredible business background and extensive manufacturing industry knowledge, that will significantly enrich our Board and our business," says Paul Summers, Steelcraft chairman and CEO.

Sutherland is a former member of the Board of Directors for ZCL, a publicly traded fiberglass storage tank company, based in Edmonton, Alberta. In July of 2011, Steelcraft purchased ZCL's steel tank manufacturing division, also located in Edmonton. He is also past Chairman of the American Iron and Steel Institute, and served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Steel Institute, Steel Producers Association and the National Association of Manufacturers.

Sutherland is currently serving on the Board of Directors of several public companies including GATX Corp., United States Steel Corp. and Imperial Oil, and is a member of the Board of Governors of the University of Saskatchewan.

Since 1923, Steelcraft provides custom-engineered steel products, components and systems that are leveraged across industries and continents. The company’s steel-based components form vital building blocks in a variety of business applications.
