Sweco to Support Outokumpu Upgrades at Avesta
06/10/2008 - Outokumpu is investing approximately SEK five billion to increase production capacity at the Avesta steelworks, including the installation of a new Anneal/Pickle line and a new slab grinder facility.
Outokumpu, Finland, is investing approximately SEK five billion to increase production capacity at the Avesta steelworks.
The facility upgrade comprises an expansion of the steel plant as well as a new Anneal/Pickle line and a new slab grinder facility. The investment will increase Avesta’s capacity for finished products made from duplex stainless steel. The project create around 100 new jobs and more than double the facility’s annual capacity, from the current 250,000 tonnes to 650,000 tonnes.
Outokumpu has contracted Sweco for project and construction management, an assignment that is worth almost SEK 70 million.
