Tata Steel has confirmed that Henrik Adam will be joining its European operations as Chief Commercial Officer from May 1, 2011.

In his new role Dr. Adam will be responsible for the sales and marketing organization of Tata Steel’s European business and for completing implementation of the company’s new market differentiation strategies and customer sector focus in Europe. A well-respected figure in the European steel industry, he joins the company after 13 years with ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe where he served in a series of sales, marketing and technical roles.

“Dr. Adam complements our enhanced customer focus,” commented Dr. Karl-Ulrich Köhler, MD & CEO of Tata Steel in Europe. “His background and wealth of experience in technically advanced products that require demanding sales, service, engineering and application support will be invaluable to our market sectors where product innovation and differentiation is critical.”

Tata Steel’s European operations (formerly known as Corus) comprise Europe's second-largest steel producer.  With main steelmaking operations in the U.K. and the Netherlands, the company supplies steel and related services to the construction, automotive, packaging, material handling and other demanding markets worldwide.

Tata Steel is one of the world’s top ten steel producers.  The combined group has an aggregate crude steel capacity of more than 28 million tonnes and approximately 80,000 employees across four continents.
