Tata Steel Posts Production and Sales Growth
02/08/2010 - Tata Steel surpassed 600,000 tonnes monthly finished steel production for the first time in January 2010, with 607,000 tonnes of saleable steel representing an 11% increase over last January’s production of 548,000 tonnes.
Tata Steel surpassed 600,000 tonnes monthly finished steel production for the first time in January 2010, with 607,000 tonnes of saleable steel representing an 11% increase over last January’s production of 548,000 tonnes.
Tata Steel also completed January with increases of 13% and 14%, respectively, in its hot metal production (650,000 tonnes vs. 574,000 tonnes) and crude steel production (596,000 tonnes vs. 525,000 tonnes) over the corresponding month of last year.
January sales were at 556,000 tonnes compared to 511,000 tonnes in January ’09, an increase of 9%. Flat products sales increased 8% over January ’09; Long products sales were up 10%.
Other highlights include “best ever production” from G blast furnace (193,604 tonnes), LD#1 steel meltshop (275,378 tonnes), Hot Strip Mill (339,631 tonnes), and Merchant Mill (32,427 tonnes).
