Tata Steel Registers Production and Sales Growth
12/08/2009 - Tata Steel completes November with production increases of 2% for hot metal, 2% for crude steel, and 16% for saleable steel compared to the corresponding month of last year.
Tata Steel completed November with production increases of 2% for its hot metal (588,000 tonnes vs. 579,000 tonnes); 2% for crude steel (526,000 tonnes vs. 514,000 tonnes); and 16% for saleable steel (525,000 tonnes vs. 451,000 tonnes) compared to the corresponding month of last year.
The company recorded November sales of 498,000 tonnes, a 35% increase vs. last year’s 370,000 tonnes. That includes a 56% increase in flat products sales and a 13% increase in long product sales compared to November 2008.
Other highlights include H blast furnace recording its best November production of 245,958 tonnes, LD#1 (a steel melting shop) recording its best November production of 205,839 tonnes, and LD#2 doing the same with 319,916 tonnes. Hot Strip Mill also recorded its best November production of 319,476 tonnes.
