Tata Steel Reports 21% Increase in Crude Steel Production for June
07/08/2009 - Tata Steel reports 16% increase in hot metal production, 21% increase in crude steel production, and 38% increase in saleable steel production in June 2009 as compared to June 2008.
Tata Steel reported significant increases in hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel production in June as compared to June 2008.
The company produced 578,000 tonnes of hot metal and 514,000 tonnes of crude steel in June, representing a 16% increase in hot metal and 21% increase in crude steel vs. June 2008.
Tata Steel also produced 526,000 tonnes of saleable steel in June, a 38% increase over June 2008, and also recorded sales of 497,000 tonnes, a 19% increase vs. June 2008. Long product sales increased 30% in June vs. June 2008, while flat product sales increased 12%.

For the first quarter of fiscal year 2010, the company produced 1.685 million tonnes of hot metal (a 21% increase vs. Q1 FY09), 1.503 million tonnes of crude steel (a 20% increase), and 1.542 million tonnes of saleable steel (a 30% increase). First-quarter sales of 1.418 million tonnes represent a 22% increase vs. the year-ago first quarter.
