Tata Steel Reports Production Results for Third Quarter
01/10/2012 - Tata Steel announced the production of 1.724 million tonnes of crude steel in the third quarter of fiscal year 2012, as compared to production of 1.742 million tonnes of crude steel in the previous quarter and production of 1.766 million tonnes in the year-ago third quarter.
Tata Steel announced the production of 1.724 million tonnes of crude steel in the third quarter of fiscal year 2012, as compared to production of 1.742 million tonnes of crude steel in the previous quarter and production of 1.766 million tonnes in the year-ago third quarter.
The company also produced 1.846 million tonnes of hot metal in the third quarter, vs. 1.946 million tonnes in the previous quarter and 1.902 million tonnes in the year-ago third quarter.
Also during the third quarter, the company produced 1.752 million tonnes of saleable steel vs. 1.710 million tonnes in the previous quarter and 1.732 million tonnes in the year-ago third quarter. Total third quarter sales were 1.640 million tonnes, vs. 1.648 million tonnes in the previous quarter and 1.622 million tonnes in the year-ago third quarter.
For the third quarter, the company’s flat products sale increased 3% year-on-year, however the company reports that long products sales are low due to lower availability of finished goods because of planned shut downs in the mills. The company’s LD #2 achieved highest-ever quarterly production in the third quarter.
Also during the third quarter, Tata Steel was conferred with ‘Best Conscious Capitalist Award’ for 2011-2012 at the Forbes India Leadership Awards.
