Tata Steel Selects Supplier for 6-High Cold Mill
11/10/2008 - Tata Steel signs contract with CMI FPE Ltd to supply a 6-high reversing cold mill in Tata’s Tinplate Co. of India Limited as part of a new 200,000 million tonnes/year tin mill black plate cold rolling mill.
Tata Steel has signed a contract with CMI FPE Ltd to supply a 6-high reversing cold mill in Tata’s Tinplate Co. of India Limited (TCIL) as part of a 200,000 million tonnes/year Tin Mill Black Plate (TMBP) Cold Rolling Mill No. 2.
Tinplate offers functional superiority over other alternatives for packaging of edibles because of decisively better shelf appeal, product preservation, barrier properties, and resistance to biodegradation.
Though India is one of the largest producers and consumers of food products, the percentage of produce currently processed and packed is 2% as compared to 24%, some 50% of the level in developed countries.
The retailing boom in India along with encouraging Government policies and incentives are expected to lead to robust growth for the food processing industry.
